Fungal root endophytes influence plants in a species?specific manner that depends on plant's growth stage

چکیده
The mycobiome (fungal microbiome) influences plants—from seed germination to full maturation. While many studies on fungal-plant interaction have focused known mutualistic and pathogenic fungi, the functional role of ubiquitous endophytic fungi remains little explored. We examined how root-inhabiting (endophytes) influence range-expanding plant species. isolated endophytes from three European intra-continental range-expanders congenerics that are native both in range expander's original (southern Europe) new (northern range. To standardize our collection, were obtained all six species growing under controlled conditions northern (new expander) southern (native soils. cultivated, molecularly identified tested effects isolates germination, growth seedlings older plants. Most 34 could not be functionally characterized based their taxonomic identity literature information functions. Endophytes affected a species–endophyte-specific manner, but overall differed between natives. reduced compared natives, they seedling natives more than range-expanders. Synthesis. conclude direct effect stage-dependent manner. these expanders strength significance varied among genera included present study. Nevertheless, likely establishment newly arriving plants vegetation dynamics.

PHYSIOLOGICAL DOSE-RESPONSE OF COFFEE (Coffea arabica L.) PLANTS TO GLYPHOSATE DEPENDS ON GROWTH STAGE
Glyphosate is the main herbicide used in coffee (Coffea arabica L.) plantations in Brazil. Problems with herbicide drift commonly occur in orchard fields due to non-adequate spraying conditions. A series of experiments was carried out aiming to evaluate physiological dose-response of C. arabica plants submitted to exposure to simulated glyphosate drift in two distinct plant growth stages. Glyph...

A total of 6125 fungal endophytes were isolated from 9000 leaf segments of 15 medicinal shrubs growing in Malnad region of Western Ghats, Southern India, during winter, monsoon, and summer seasons. These fungal isolates belonged to Ascomycota (8.6 %), Coelomycetes (26.0 %), Hyphomycetes (28.0 %), Mucoromycotina (0.3 %) and sterile forms (4.9 %). Alternaria, Chaetomium, Fusarium, Colletotrichum,...
متن کاملBacterial endophytes enhance competition by invasive plants.
UNLABELLED PREMISE OF THE STUDY Invasive plants can alter soil microbial communities and profoundly alter ecosystem processes. In the invasive grass Sorghum halepense, these disruptions are consequences of rhizome-associated bacterial endophytes. We describe the effects of N2-fixing bacterial strains from S. halepense (Rout and Chrzanowski, 2009) on plant growth and show that bacteria intera...

Fungi constitute a highly versatile group of eukaryotic carbonheterotrophic organisms that have successfully occupied most natural habitats. The vast majority of fungi are strict saprophytes; <10% of the *lOO,OOO known fungal sp-ecies are able to colonize plants, and an even smaller fraction of these are to a plant pathogen? Second, what mechanisms control the degree of virulence on the host on...
متن کاملAntimicrobial potential of fungal endophytes from selected high value medicinal plants of the Kashmir valley – India
The purpose of this work was to evaluate the antimicrobial potential of endophytic fungi isolated from different high value medicinal plants of Kashmir valley. Evaluation of some endophytes has been carried out for their possible antimicrobial activity from various parts of medicinal plants belonging to Kashmir valley (India). A total of twenty eight fungal endophytes were isolated from the dif...
